Middlesbrough midfielder joins for the season...

Rotherham United have captured the signing of Middlesbrough midfielder Richard Smallwood on loan until the end of the season.

Smallwood, 23, has featured 13 times for Championship side Middlesbrough with his most recent appearance coming from the bench in the 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic last Saturday.

A ball-playing midfielder, Smallwood made his debut for the club as a 19 year-old, going on to play a dozen times in total in the 2010/11 season, netting his first professional goal in a 3-0 win at Cardiff City.

He then went onto play a key role under Tony Mowbray before current boss Aitor Karanka also utilised him in the midfield, before allowing him along with several other Boro prospects, the chance to gain a temporary move.

Richard will be available for Saturday’s game against Crawley Town and will wear the squad number 36.

Full interviews with Richard and Steve Evans will be available only on Millers Player soon.
