Rotherham United boss Neil Redfearn is anticipating a tough test at the Macron Stadium posed by a side he believes are in a false position in the Sky Bet Championship.The Millers travel to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday as they look to put more distance between themselves and the division’s bottom club but Redfearn insists he is surprised that the Trotters are currently propping up the table.
“I think if you look at Bolton’s squad there is no way that they should be bottom of the league,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.
“They’ve got good players but they’re obviously finding it tough and I think because of the nature of this division that can happen to any club.
“It’s such a strong division and sides are so strong and balanced as regards their recruitment that it can happen to most clubs.”
Neil Lennon’s side have turned in impressive league performances against Wolverhampton Wanderers and MK Dons and has seen them record four points from their last two outings, but the Millers boss is keen to ensure that his side end the Lancashire-club’s recent revival.
“We’ve just got to make sure that they don’t continue their little upturn in form against us,” Redfearn explained.
“We’ve got to go there and we’ve got to compete against them but we’ve got to play our stuff.
“I went to watch them against Hull and they were the better side for a good hour and didn’t look like a side that were down at the bottom of the league.”
The Rotherham United chief insists his side will have to turn in a good performance if they are to return to South Yorkshire with the points haul but is confident that there is enough quality in the camp to record a positive result.
“They’ve got good players and if you get good players up and firing you’re going to get them at it.
“We’ve got to make sure we’re right on our mettle because we know full well that there is no game in this division that’s a given for us and we need to be right at full tilt,” Redfearn added.
“If we do that we know we have a chance of getting results because if you beat people like Hull City and Brighton and Leeds United away it’s not a fluke and we’ve obviously got it in us."
