The Millers Academy welcomes Premier League opposition to AESSEAL New York Stadium in the form of a friendly against Manchester United.

Rotherham United’s Under 15s are set to host the Red Devils on Tuesday 12th May in a game that will kick off at 7:30pm. Admission is free, please turnstiles 5-8 in the West Stand.

The prestigious Manchester United Academy, that has produced such talent as David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, are the first of two top flight outfits that will visit AESSEAL New York Stadium home.

Academy Manager Garreth Barker admits he has been looking forward to this illustrious fixture for some time and thinks the experience the youngsters will gain is invaluable:

“I’m delighted that we have been able to secure a match against one of European football’s most prestigious clubs,” he beamed.

“We want to give the players a breadth of experience in terms of opposition and types of football, hence us arranging this game with Manchester United. It will provide an obvious and transparent test for our Academy players and serve them well in the build up towards the Sweden tournament in July for this particular group.”

The Millers will also welcome another top flight academy to their AESSEAL New York Stadium home two days later when they lock horns with Hull City’s Under 14s two days later and Barker believes these challenges are fundamental in the youngsters’ development:

“It is our aim to provide as many different football and social experiences for the boys as is possible during their time with the Academy and these fixtures will ensure just that.

Supporters are welcome to come and watch the Millers’ future stars in action with both games open to the public:

“We are very grateful to these clubs for accepting our invitation and massively look forward to welcoming them and our supporters to AESSEAL New York Stadium for what should be two very entertaining games of football."
