Rotherham United striker Jerry Yates has joined Harrogate Town on a Youth Loan until January 16th, subject to FA and National League ratification.

The young forward has signed forms with the National League North club which will see him remain at Wetherby Road beyond the turn of the year.

Yates has tasted the first team environment with the Millers in recent weeks following his recall earlier this month and was named as a substitute in the games against Bristol City, Wolves and Blackburn Rovers.

“We had players out so the sensible thing was to bring Jerry back in,” manager Neil Redfearn told www.themillers.co.uk

“He had done ever so well for Harrogate, nicking a goal or two and there was a temptation at times to throw him in off the bench.”

The 19-year-old is held in high regard by first team manager Redfearn who believes the familiar setting at Wetherby Road will help Yates as he continues to evolve as a player.

“It is important that he comes in at the right time and under the right circumstances because he’s a young guy and what we need to do is ensure that Jerry gets good experience and then we can start to move his career on.”

“He’s gone back out to Harrogate which is good for him because he’s done ever so well there. He’s comfortable in the surroundings and we’ll monitor his progress as it goes on,"Redfearn added.
