Steward Ian Thomas has received a special award in recognition of his continued good work with Rotherham United’s disabled supporters and was presented with the trophy at half time during the game with Blackburn Rovers.

Ian, who won Steward of the Year last season, has once again played a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of our supporters on matchdays and the club were delighted to pay tribute to his work during the interval of the game against Paul Lambert’s side.

He was called to action in the tunnel area during the break on Saturday before hearing his name read out over the stadium tannoy and collecting the award which was presented in front of the Rotherham United fans by club legend John Breckin.

Stadium Manager Paul Davis was delighted to see Ian’s hard work rewarded with the trophy and took time to thank the entire stewarding team for their efforts in the 2015/16 season.

“It is a pleasure to have Ian as part of our team on a matchday and he goes the extra mile for our supporters every time he is here,” he explained.

“Stewards are on hand to ensure that our supporters are safe at all times and make every effort to guarantee their enjoyment of the matchday experience and Ian and the rest of the stewarding team have been fantastic.

“I’d like to place on record my gratitude to everyone that has been involved this season and congratulate Ian on a thoroughly deserved award."
