The Millers make a double loan signing...
Rotherham United have completed the double loan signing of Derby County duo Kelle Roos and Farrend Rawson, subject to Football League ratification.
The Millers moved for Dutch stopper Roos on a season long loan to provide competition with Adam Collin for the number one jersey, whilst defender Rawson enjoyed a loan stint at AESSEAL New York Stadium last season, and signs a six-month deal.
On the signing of Roos, boss Steve Evans told www.themillers.co.uk:
“The signing of Kelle once again endorses Rotherham United being right for the season ahead.
“Since the end of last season I have made it clear that I would like to strengthen the Millers in the goalkeeping department. For me there were only two options and I am delighted that we have been able to secure one of them on a season long loan. I have watched Kelle on a number of occasions, as has our goalkeeper coach Andy Dibble, both of us have on every occasion left the match very impressed.
“He comes to the Millers with some very high references. These include the likes of current Newcastle United boss Steve McLaren and highly respected goalkeeper coach Eric Steele. The lad will now commence battle with Adam Collin to secure a starting place in the team.”
Roos, 23, began his playing career in his native Netherlands, enjoying spells in his teenage years with the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Willem II and N.E.C. Nijmegen.
He initially arrived in England signing a short-term deal with Nuneaton Town prompting Derby to sign him in 2014, and he made his debut in a League Cup victory over Reading in September last year.
In total he made five appearances for the Rams all in cup competitions.
On the signing of Rawson, Evans added:
“I am absolutely delighted to have secured the services of young Faz. In a very short space of time towards the end of last season, he joined us as a boy and left us to go back to Derby County as a man.
“His performances during his loan spell last season can only be described as outstanding, and I repeat what I said last season, this lad will go on and play in the Barclays Premier League.
“However he is still young, he still has a lot to learn and it will be my ultimate responsibility to harness and develop his talent, which in turn will hopefully see that prediction come true.”
Rawson, 19, made four appearances last season for the Millers.
