Rotherham United would like to announce that the Erasmus+ project organised for its Academy will come to its natural termination on 31st May 2016.

Through the project a group of 23 Rotherham United Academy players, representing the U18 team with additions from the U16 group, travelled to Hungary to train at Globall, the Hungarian National Football Centre.

The team was supervised by Academy Manager Garreth Barker, Head of Academy Coaching Matt Hamshaw, Head of Academy physiotherapy Adrian Littlejohn, Academy Sports Science Intern Ryan McMahon and former Academy Football Analyst Intern Jack Scrimshaw.

At Globall, the young Millers had the opportunity to enjoy a residential intensive training period of two weeks and to experience the life of professional football players.

The fact that Globall was inaugurated in 2009 by FIFA and UEFA Presidents underlines the quality of the facilities coupled with the location on the beautiful hills just outside Budapest and the possibility to play international friendly matches, not to mention the merciful weather gave our lads the additional motivation to work hard for their season ahead.

Classroom lessons on German language and FA regulations on doping, match-fixing, betting, racism and hate offences complemented the training programme.

This Erasmus+ Mobility project presented the perfect environment for Rotherham United coaching staff to evaluate their players on and off the pitch for an intense two-week period. This has led to no fewer than  five Academy players signing their first contracts with the club.

Rotherham United would like to thank the Erasmus+ Programme for this fantastic opportunity and we very much hope that we are gifted the opportunity to participate in the Programme at some point again in the future.
