The Managers
Steve Evans’ Leeds United have now lost two on the trot with a loss to the Millers followed by defeat in the capital at the hands of Queens Park Rangers. Charlie Austin scored with his first touch of the ball after coming on as a second half substitute to net the only goal of the game and produce a result that leaves Leeds in 17th, while QPR sit 12th.

Ex-Millers manager Mark Robins also had a disappointing weekend as his Scunthorpe United side went down 4-0 at home to Peterborough United. The Iron were on a superb run of form but their Sky Bet League One progress has stalled of late. Conor Washington grabbed a hat-trick at Glanford Park which means that Scunthorpe stay in mid-table whereas Peterborough move into the Play-off spots.

It’s now an impressive five wins on the bounce for Paul Hurst’s Grimsby Town as they beat Kidderminster 1-0 at home. Hurst’s Grimsby have been playing some effective football of late and it shows with the results being so positive. Grimsby go up to third in the Vanarama National League.

The Players
Kevin Ellison had quite a weekend as his current team Morecambe came up against Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium. Ellison scored two goals on the day, the first being his 50th goal for the club. He turned home a second with a fantastic volley, however Morecambe lost 4-3 on the day. Chris Whelpdale grabbed the headlines for the hosts as he grabbed a hat-trick.

Ex-Rotherham United player Lewis Grabban scored for Norwich City against Arsenal this weekend. His composed finish from close range saw the Canaries secure a vital point to keep them three clear of the relegation zone. Grabban signed for the Millers in 2011and played just over 40 games for the club, scoring 18 goals. Grabban departed the Don Valley Stadium for Bournemouth before making the switch to Carrow Road.

Ryan Cresswell and Sam Hoskins will be pleased with last weekend’s results. Both played for the Millers in the 2011-12 season. Cresswell also had a stint at Rotherham in 2007 while on loan from Sheffield United. They now both play for Northampton Town who won at home to Yeovil Town by 2-0.

Ben Pringle now at Fulham came on as a late substitute to help his side secure a point against Preston North End. The point leaves Fulham 13th while Preston stay in 18th.

Gareth Evans played his part in Portsmouth’s 2-2 draw with Wycombe. Coming on as a second half substitute, Evans helped his side gain an important point. The former Bradford City man, who can operate in the forward line or on the wing, signed for the Millers in 2011 played 45 games and scoring 9 goals.

Oxford United captain Johnny Mullins made sure the O’s kept a clean sheet at the back and secure his current side another well earned three points. The win came against a Hartlepool side in mixed form. Oxford. now unbeaten in their last eight. move to the top of Sky Bet League Two.

Mullins played for the Millers from 2010-2013 playing just under 100 games. Chris Maguire also made his O’s debut having joined on loan from Rotherham United last week.
