Paul Raynor post Nottingham Forest on Millers Player...

Rotherham United assistant manager Paul Raynor was happy to come through the game with no injuries after a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Kieran Agard bagged his third goal of pre-season as the Millers saw off Stuart Pearce’s Forest after good performance at New York Stadium.

“It was a good solid performance; we were very pleased with the fitness levels,” Raynor told Millers Player.

“We were also pleased that we came through the game relatively unscathed; Richard Wood did end up having a couple of stitches above his eyebrow, it won’t improve his looks but he certainly will not worry it. Once the doctor had put the stitches in we could have got him straight back out but there was only a couple of minutes to go so we aired on the side of caution on that one.”

Agard struck in the second half to add to goals against Greenock Morton and Falkirk after good play by Ben Pringle.

“He seems to have taken the goalscoring and the performances from last season into this season,” added Raynor.

“It was a very clinical, sometimes you can have too much time in those situations and over think things, but he was very composed and it was a neat and tidy finish. It was also good play by Ryan Hall and then a pinpoint pass from Ben Pringle, we are well aware of the quality he has in that left foot, he made it very easy for Kieran to take his chance.”

The Millers were missing Matt Derbyshire and Febian Brandy but Raynor confirmed they are both set to feature at the weekend.

“They should both be available for the weekend,” he revealed.

“They are back in full training which is good news, pre-season is not a time to take chances, but they have stepped up their training and they should be available to get some game time this weekend which is a real positive.”

Finally Raynor was coy over the future of Jonathan Greening who has been training with the Millers this week, before coming on as a second half substitute.

“We’ll have a chat between the Gaffer and the staff and we’ll see where we go with that. Jon has been with us for the last couple of days and we’ll see what happens in the next few days with that one.”
