Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says he was disappointed to only leave the AMEX with a point after his side drew 1-1 with Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon, but was pleased with the reaction his side showed after half-time.
After a steady start, Alex Revell’s goal early in the second period cancelled out Joe Bennett’s opener and the Millers boss believes that with the dominance his side enjoyed, they could have come away with another two points, despite now making five games unbeaten.
“We know it should have been different,” Evans said after the game. “If we take the game as a whole I think we got it wrong tactically at the start but we had a terrific spell up to half-time before giving the most atrocious goal away. We need to have a look at that but we talked about a reaction at half-time. We got the early goal and for large periods in that game, especially in the last 15-20 minutes of the game we laid siege to their goal. Their goalkeeper has made save after save, none more so than the one from Jonson’s free-kick and the one that would have been an own goal. We go away now and I’ve told the lads to keep going and the breaks will come.”
Alex Revell made it three goals in three as he controlled Pringle’s centre expertly before side-footing home and the Millers boss was pleased to see another goal and accomplished performance from his big number nine.
“We love him. You can’t knock him, and we’ll keep picking him because he leads our line superbly and I thought he was tremendous from start to finish. He should score in the first half which is another chance we have had but he sticks the other one in the second half, it’s another goal for him and we’re delighted when he scores.”
