No luck for Millers - Evans

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans was left disappointed with the circumstances that saw his side slip to a 2-0 defeat against Burton Albion.

The Millers received two red cards in the game that saw a double from Billy Kee be the difference.

David Noble saw red for two bookings in the first half, whilst Michael O’Connor’s challenge midway through the second period brought a straight red card from the referee.

“I don’t think either was a yellow card (for Noble),” said Evans. “I think most people in the ground were staggered, the lad has got the ball trapped between his legs and Michael O’Connor has gone to try and win the ball, but I don’t want to talk about the referee.”

Kee put the home side ahead 10 minutes prior to the break and doubled the home side’s advantage on 55 minutes, and despite the result, Evans is focusing on Tuesday night’s game with Torquay.

“I don’t think that we played well first half, we didn’t play with a purpose but in the second half with 10 men I thought we were the better team. It is very difficult to come to a team with a fantastic home record, with such good players that they have got, they are very organised. We need the defeat on the chin and get back to work on Monday, this wasn’t like Bristol Rovers or Barnet, this was a real disciplined and hard fought battle in the second half. It was a good performance in the second, we’ve now got to regroup, watch the DVD, dust ourselves down and get on that coach to Torquay on Monday.”
