Mitchell Rose talks to Millers Player after his first league start at the weekend.

Mitchell Rose says there is more to come after he made his first professional league start at the weekend.

The 18-year-old started in the Millers 0-0 draw at Barnet after impressing in the reserves, and despite earning praise from both Steve Evans and Paul Raynor; he insists that there is more to come.

“I thought I did okay but I was nervous and found it hard to get into the game at first,” Rose told Millers Player.

“Once I got into the game more I felt I did better and offered something to the team, but I know I can be better.”

Rose, along with fellow youngster Alec Denton, are first year professionals who have impressed the Millers coaching staff during pre-season and playing for the second string. After coming off the bench against Chesterfield earlier in the campaign, this was Rose’s second appearance, and he added he was grateful for the experience.

“It was a good experience and something that I’ve been working to for a long time. I have been working hard from the start of pre-season to get this opportunity and I am thankful for being given the chance to start the game,” he added.

“I know that I still have areas of my game that need work; I just need to keep working harder and harder to earn more opportunities to play.”
