Gaffer disappointed with dropped points...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans was left frustrated after the Millers couldn’t turn their domination into goals, being held 1-1 by Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Joe Lewis was the hero of the hour for the home side, saving a Tom Lawrence penalty and denying the visitors on numerous occasions before Emmanuel Ledesma sent the 2,000 plus travelling fans into raptures.

However, youngster Dom Telford levelled it up late on, leaving the Gaffer feeling particularly disappointed.

“It’s as low as I’ve been all season really,” Evans said after the game. “I think we gave them a share of the spoils recently when our goalkeeper made an error and today one of my centre-backs makes an error. We miss a penalty, but other than that, Lee Clark said to me at half-time it could have been six and I think by the end if it was six then they would have gotten away lightly. We get a point for our efforts but it’s as down as I’ve felt.”

Evans was encouraged by the chances created, rather than disappointed with those missed, but says they move onto the FA Cup game at home to Bournemouth looking to put this result behind them.

“You can always miss a chance, and you can always miss a penalty but you expect people to come back from that, but you can see all the boys looking at each other. We’ll dust ourselves down, we’ll take the disappointment with us because we absolutely dominated. The Blackpool fans wouldn’t have complained if it had been eight or nine, they’re good honest people here. There’s no positives from us this afternoon though we should have won today.”
