Pre-season tour north of the border...

Rotherham United will once again return north of the border in pre-season with another trip to Scotland planned in July.

Following the success of last year’s pre-season tour, Steve Evans’ men will play several fixtures between Thursday 10th July and Saturday 19th July and are will be based on the outskirts of Glasgow.

"The matches are always competitive and always become like mini auld enemy, Scotland versus England clashes,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

"Going up to Scotland you get good opposition, quality pitches and the matches are played with a high tempo and that is what I look for in pre season.

"We need to plan now for next season, as hard as that is that is what we must do. Pre-season training schedules, matches and player recruitment are all essential and it is fair to say we are once again ahead of most others in that department.

"I would think that full details will be released within the next week or so but we wanted to get our tour dates for Scotland out early enough so any supporters considering making the journey too can plan travel and accommodation.”

Prior to this campaign, the Millers faced Greenock Morton and Livingston in midweek before a healthy contingent from South Yorkshire travelled up to see them close the tour in a 4-1 victory at Ayr United.

Three games have been confirmed already on Saturday 12th July, Wednesday 16th July and Saturday 19th July with the opponents to be announced when the formal documentation has been finalised.

The Millers manager is confident of adding one more fixture to the trip, but again, details are to be confirmed.
