QPR hotshot joins on loan...

Rotherham United have completed the loan signing of QPR striker Tom Hitchcock, who will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game against Crewe Alexandra.

Hitchcock, 21, has spent the first half of the season with Saturday’s opponents where he averaged a goal every other game, in addition to his winner for QPR in their Championship fixture at Ipswich Town. He will join the Millers initially for a month, but subject to circumstances at his parent club, both parties could sit down to discuss extending the deal further.

“Tom is a young man we first came across when he was very young at Blackburn Rovers,” Steve Evans told www.themillers.co.uk. “We’ve always liked him and watched him playing in games, both behind closed doors and reserve games for QPR. I spoke to Harry Redknapp about him a while ago and although things didn’t work out at that time, we tracked him when he went to Crewe. He’s done well there, got a goal every two games in this division and was unlucky not to get more actually.”

Hitchcock will be eligible for the game against Alex, and you can be there for his debut, for more information, click here.

Evans has been an admirer of the striker's ability for some time and is looking forward to seeing the Rangers hotshot in a Millers shirt.

“I spoke to Harry again, and the deal was eventually done late last night," added Evans. "He’s working on getting equivalent to Premier League strikers to bolster his attacking options to help out Charlie Austin, and with him being so close to sanctioning someone coming in, it’s agreed that young Tom will be here initially for the month, but we will look at this being extended.

“Harry likes him and he’s a good judge of a player, but more importantly for Rotherham I like him. He’s a young man whose movement is good, he’s very creative and he’ll get a goal and it’s a bit like Nouha Dicko where he’s got a goal in the Championship but has been hiding away in the reserves of a big club, so hopefully he can have a big effect and we’ll build a good relationship together.”

Tom will wear 35 for the Millers.

There will be a full interview available with Tom on Millers Player, which you can subscribe to from just 10p per day.
