Steve Evans talks to Millers Player...

Steve Evans hopes to have a number of key players back in contention for Saturday’s game against Fleetwood Town at New York Stadium.

The Millers squad has been decimated by injuries over the past couple of weeks and Evans is delighted to now have more options available to him.

Speaking to Millers Player, Evans revealed that he could have an almost fully-fit squad to choose from for the crucial encounter.

“Lee Frecklington’s put a bit of weight back on which is good because he lost almost a stone, but he’s back in and looking a lot better and by Saturday he’ll be 100% fit,” he said.

“We’re hoping that Claude will be fit. It’s been 10 day’s since his injury at Gillingham and he’s getting there very quickly. I’m very hopeful that he’ll make it on Saturday."

Evans also reported good news on the fitness of defenders Mark Bradley and Liam Ridehalgh.

“We are hoping Mark will train today, but if not, then tomorrow. He’s just got a bit of bone bruising but if heart, character and tenacity play a part in him being fit then he’ll be available,” Evans added.

“Liam is fine. He’s trained all week and had the benefit of a day off on Wednesday along with the rest of the group, so I’m looking forward to seeing Liam back. People think he can only play at left-back but he played the majority of his time at Chesterfield and at Huddersfield further forward on the left.”

The only player who Evans feels may miss out on Saturday is Daniel Kearns, but he says the midfielder could return for Tuesday’s trip to Bradford.

He said: “We think Kearns will miss out at the weekend but he may be fit for Bradford next week. He’s just got a bit of fluid at the back of his Achilles and the medical team are hoping to get rid of it.”
