Final Third Development League West Division

This week served up three highly-contested fixtures in the West Division, with Morecambe's 4-3 victory over Tranmere Rovers the stand-out result.

George Donnelly opened the scoring for Rovers before a Tom McCready strike drew the hosts level. James Khelleher then put the Shrimps in front, only for James Rowe to equalise.

Aaron McGowan gave Morecambe the lead again deep into the second half but Marcus Holness was on hand to once again set Tranmere on course for a point. Stewart Drummond's men did have the final say however, with Mark Hughes' 89th-minute winner ensuring the home side grabbed all three points.

Elsewhere, James Caton scored the only goal of the game to ensure Shrewsbury's second string came away from Wrexham with a 1-0 victory, while Port Vale also collected three away points after a 2-1 triumph against Walsall.

Final Third Development League South Division

Leyton Orient were the only side to come away with a victory in this week's South Division fixtures, as goals from Harry Lee and Victor Adeboyejo were enough to see off Cambridge United.Portsmouth and Luton Town served up an entertaining 2-2 draw at Furze Lane, with former England internationalNicky Shorey featuring for the hosts.

Pompey's Andy Barcham netted the opener after just six minutes, only for Charlie Walker to cancel it out 20 minuteslater. Portsmouth responded again before half-time when Nigel Atangana headed home a Miles Storey cross but Shaun Whalley levelled from the penalty spot in the second half to make it 2-2.

Final Third Development League East Division

Rotherham United ran out 4-2 winners against Hartlepool on Tuesday in the East Division, but were pushed all the way by their opponents in a closely-fought encounter at Roundwood.

Chelsea loanee John Swift opened the scoring for the Millers but their lead lasted just a minute as Jordan Jewson replied for the visitors. Regular first-team striker Luciano Becchio restored the Millers' advantage but Pools reponded and equalised again, through Darren Holden.

The home side proved too much for their opponents in the second half though as Jonson Clarke-Harris smashed home from close range, before Swift completed the scoring with his second goal of the game.

The division's other game saw Scunthorpe United and Mansfield Town share the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Glanford Park, with Ollie Palmer's late equaliser rescuing a point for the Stags in their season opener.

The only match in the Final Third Development League last week took place in the East Division and Hull City's Jonathan Margetts stole the show by bagging a brace in a 2-0 victory against Rotherham at North Ferriby.

Final Third Development League Cup

Hull's match this week saw them take on Gateshead in the Final Third Development League Cup and the Tigers secured a 2-1 triumph.

Margetts was on target again for the Yorkshire club, along with Karim Rossi.
