Gaffer pleased with another late win...

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans admitted his side were a ‘notch down’ in overcoming basement club Stevenage at New York Stadium.

With the Millers leading, Francois Zoko found the net late in the game, only for stand-in captain Lee Frecklington to fire home a winner in the 88th minute.

“It’s a tough day at the office,” Steve Evans said after the game. “I told the players it would be and at half past five this morning I told the milkman it would be as well but we worked hard and we were probably a notch down today but we had every chance to kill the game off only for them to equalise when we’re effectively down to 10 men. Bradders couldn’t really continue but he carried on.”

Frecklinton’s goal was an almost carbon copy of the one netted by Alex Revell when the Millers overcame Leyton Orient a fortnight ago and Evans believes it’s down the side’s character.

“The character, willingness, togetherness and desire I think we have in abundance. We’ll always go to the death whether we’re 1-0 up, 2-0 up or 5-0 down it’s pleasing and it’s equally as good a win as we’ve had all season.”
