Gaffer pleased with Wirral win...

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans was delighted with the performance that saw his side claim their sixth victory in seven away games with a 2-1 success against Tranmere Rovers

“The manager in the opposition dugout I have the utmost respect for and he's just said some very complimentary words about the performance,” Evans said after the game. “I think he was right because it could have been four or five, but it wasn't. They’re always going to make a chance here but thankfully for us that chance came in injury time but we should have put the game to bed by then. Wes misses one which he should score then Haris goes through and the ‘keeper makes a good save, but it’s a good day for us because it’s a difficult place to come on a difficult surface against a team that’s always going to be impeccably organised.”

Alex Revell was the hero of the hour as his brace put the Millers 2-0 ahead with a goal in each half but whilst Evans was pleased with his number nine, he was quick to praise the rest of the side, including some surprises in the starting line-up, with four changes made to the side that drew with Crawley Town at the weekend.

“Alex Revell’s workrate was incredible as it always is, but so were one-to-eleven. We came with a gameplan for certain stages of the game and we made some decisions about the team on Sunday; I stuck with them and they (the players) all worked well towards that gameplan. We wanted to introduce Mark Bradley back at full-back, it was hard on Skarzy because I thought he was our best player on Saturday. Big Miles wasn’t feeling too good but the stats show that when Davis and Arnason play together we win football matches so that wasn’t a problem. We wanted to bring Frecks back in which was an easy choice and Wes started and caused them all kinds of problems.”
