Gaffer not taking Walsall lightly...

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans is expecting a tough test as the Millers host play off chasers Walsall at New York Stadium today.

The Saddlers arrive at New York without a win in eight games, but the Gaffer will not be taking lightly the team who currently lie eighth in the table, seven points away from sixth place Peterborough.

Tuesday night saw them earn a point against Crewe Alexandra, days after a home defeat in a midlands derby against league-leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“Our Chief Scout watched them against Wolves last week and while we all see that it’s a convincing win for Wolves, 3-0 away from home, if you’d stopped the game 25 minutes in it was total domination by Walsall. I saw them myself recently at Peterborough and they only got a draw but some of their passing was outstanding and they’ll be a real threat to us on Saturday.

“I’m not building up a team that don’t deserve building up, they’re a good team with some real good players for the level and a manager in Smudger (Dean Smith) who has been there three or four years and does a great job.”
