Caretaker Manager Eric Black has described tonight’s game against Burnley as a ‘wonderful challenge’ as he looks to lead his side to a third consecutive league win.
The Millers take on the Clarets tonight in front of the Sky cameras as they look to build on victories over Cardiff City and Birmingham City in recent weeks.
Black is excited about the challenge ahead as the club welcomes a Burnley side who have made a solid start to life back in the Football League.
“It is a Friday night game live on Sky, I’m sure there will be a full house and I am sure that the fans will be behind us,” Black told Millers Player.
“It is a massive transition coming down from the Premier League back into The Championship but Burnley have handled it well. They are a strong, powerful outfit with no lack of quality so it is a big challenge, but what a wonderful challenge.”
The Millers are in good form after an excellent 2-0 away success at St. Andrew’s last weekend, and Black will be looking for more of the same in what he expects will be another tight encounter in the Sky Bet Championship.
“It is fine margins in this division,” Eric added.
“There are a lot of organised teams; there are a lot of good footballers and it is a very competitive division. We have to prepare the players as best as possible to ensure we give ourselves a chance of winning.”
After recording their first clean sheet since August, Eric admitted that the Millers are starting to see the benefits of a settled back five, and he is looking for the improvement to continue ahead of tonight’s tough encounter.
“Credit to the five of them,” Eric continued. “Lee Camp coming in has made a big difference, he knows his trade inside out and he has brought serenity if you like to the back five, and we hope that continues. The longer back fours and fives play with each other, obviously the better they get. They are doing extremely well just now.”
