Captain courageous Craig Morgan was quick to praise his side's resilience after they secured a narrow victory over much-improved Bristol City.
Steve Evans' men have been sweeping all before them since the turn of the year to push themselves firmly in the League One promotion frame and although few eyebrows will have been raised as the Millers extended their unbeaten run to 15 games at the expense of the West Country outfit, skipper Morgan was delighted his side avoided a potential banana-skin in their pursuit of Championship football.
"Bristol City are a good side and have been on just as good a run as us in recent weeks, so it's a much bigger victory than people think," he enthused.
"We were very resilient and they are a good side, who may not make the play-offs this year, but I'm sure they will be a force to be reckoned with next year."
Following on the back of their adrenaline fuelled victories over Peterborough and Brentford in the last seven days, Newcastle loanee James Tavernier gave the Millers the perfect start against City when he netted with a fantastic strike from distance.
Despite dominating the majority of the first-half, Wade Elliott stunned the home faithful when he equalised three minutes into the second half with a goal of the season contender.
However, Tavernier struck the decisive winner with a fabulous free-kick in front of the Kop to boost Rotherham's faint automatic promotion hopes as they cut second-placed Brentford's advantage to five points.
Speaking to www.themillers.co.uk following the NYS clash, Morgan admitted his side were running on empty following a testing week both mentally and physically.
"It was a very tired group today with the three games we've had, especially at Peterborough where the pitch was very boggy." he added.
"It's testament to the group for the grit and determination we showed especially after their guy scored the goal of the game, which pegged us back a bit.
"Ideally, we'd have liked to have got a second goal in the first half but there were three magnificent goals in the game and fortunately two of them were for us, so we are delighted."
