A successful partnership between Rotherham United CST and Brinsworth Whitehill FC

The partnership between Rotherham United Community Sports and Brinsworth Whitehill FC continuously create opportunities for girls in football. Back in October 2013 Brinsworth Whitehill had two girls teams, an under 13 and under 18. As in much of Girls football today both teams were struggling to attract players and the club feared that the teams would fail and the girls would have nowhere to play. An idea was born to join forces with Rotherham United Ladies and Rotherham United CST who had no junior girls teams at the time to feed into their adult teams. After various conversations between, Lee Cardwell of Brinsworth Whitehill JFC , Simon Walker of Rotherham United Ladies and Jamie Noble of Rotherham United CST, a partnership was formed and Rotherham United Whitehill Girls was created to run as part of the Brinsworth Whitehill JFC set up.

Open training sessions were held during the summer and the following season our Under 18’s became Rotherham United Ladies Development FC. Three new junior girls sides were formed and the club now run an under 11’s, under 14’s under 15’s and under 16’s. The partnership has allowed us to provide football for many more girls in the area. The girls have been flag bearers at some of the first team games, played at Wembley, regularly go and support the Ladies team, and with the help of RUSCT and SY Sport obtained help towards some set up funding for the new sides with Brinsworth Whitehill providing the shortfall. RUSCT are about to undertake a Nutrition evening with Brinsworth Whitehill under 16’s and offered them to take part in other Summer activities with the club. The partnership between Rotherham United Whitehill Girls, Brinsworth Whitehill JFC, Rotherham United and Rotherham United Ladies is growing stronger every day and we look forward to this running long into the future.

“The partnership has proved to be huge success as far as we are concerned, we now have more girls playing for the club than ever before and we look forward to more joining us. Long term we want to see girls start with our youngest section, playing in each age group before making the step up to Rotherham United Ladies 1st Team” Lee Cardwell Rotherham United Whitehill Girls FC

Jamie Noble, Head of Community at Rotherham United CST said: “Our partnership with Brinsworth Whitehill FC has been fantastic. We have held fundraising events to help keep the cost down for the girls football team. Going forward we will continue to support Brinsworth and ensure all girls have the opportunity to play football at any level.”

We are always looking for new players, if you are interested in joining Rotherham United Whitehill Girls Football Team please contact Jamie Noble on 01709 827767 or jnoble@rotherhamunited.net. Please note players are not allowed to be registered with more than one team each season.
