Rotherham United will host Wolves on the opening day...

Rotherham United will begin the 2016/17 EFL Sky Bet Championship season at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The new season kicks off on Saturday 6th August with Alan Stubbs taking to the dugout for his first competitive game as Millers boss on home soil against Kenny Jackett’s Wolves.

Stubbs’ side will go on the road for the first time in week two of the new season travelling to Aston Villa (Saturday 13th August) for the first league visit to Villa Park since 1971.

The Millers will end the month of August with an away trip to Brighton and Hove Albion (Tuesday 16th), a home game against Brentford (Saturday 20th) and a local derby away at Barnsley (Saturday 27th).

The final game of the 2016/17 season will see the Millers at home again against Derby County (Sunday 7th May).

The Millers play Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday 17th December, and take on the Owls at AESSEAL New York Stadium on Tuesday 4th April.

The ever popular games over the festive period will see the Millers take on newly promoted Wigan Athletic at home on Boxing Day, and it is another newly-promoted side who make the visit to the AESSEAL New York Stadium on New Year’s Eve when the Millers host Burton Albion.
