Manager Kenny Jackett says new signing Peter Odemwingie is 'up for the fight' of helping Rotherham United move up the Championship table.
The striker, who yesterday signed a deal with the Millers until January, has been without a club following his departure from Stoke City during the close season.
The former West Bromwich Albion hot-shot has been training regularly in recent weeks, and boss Jackett is keen to get him involved with his first-team squad as soon as possible.
"He is looking to get playing and I am pleased that he can join us straight away," Jackett told www.themillers.co.uk
"He is up for the fight, he is up for the challenge in terms of where we are in the league and I am looking forward to working with him.
"I think he will be fine for Saturday, he has been training hard and we are really pleased with what we have seen."
Odemwingie boasts an impressive résumé which includes spells abroad with the likes of Lille and Lokomotiv Moscow before he arrived in England in 2010.
During his first season at West Brom he bagged 15 goals before taking in spells with Cardiff City and Stoke City.
Last season he netted the equaliser against the Millers whilst on loan at Bristol City in the 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate.
After a period of time without a club, Odemwingie took the decision to move to South Yorkshire with Jackett stating his vast experience can only be a benefit to the Millers.
"He is well known and has a proven goalscoring record," Jackett added.
"He can also play in a wide position and brings a lot of experience which, in particular with our starting 11 this season, we have struggled with. We are delighted to have him here until January and he increases our options considerably."
Now 35, Odemwingie still has aims he wants to achieve in his career.
Jackett, who took charge of the Millers for the first time last weekend, insists Odemwingie's desire to add to his 63 caps for Nigeria will only benefit the Millers, with the versatile forward targeting the 2018 World Cup.
He continued:
"He has been close to one or two moves, but he has signed here and his aim is to work through to the World Cup in 2018, and finish his career off at the highest level he possibly can."
