Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Interim manager Paul Warne believes his current transfer targets have the attributes to make an impact on both the short and long term future of the club.

Warne yesterday revealed that the Millers had made concrete bids on a number of targets, as he looks to add to his squad before the 11pm transfer deadline this coming Tuesday.

After spending nine years as a player with the Millers over two spells, plus many years working on the staff, Warne is aiming to use his vast knowledge of the club to attract the right players who would fit the Rotherham ‘mould’.

“The players we have identified are players that I am confident can fit the Rotherham United 'mould',” Warne told www.themillers.co.uk

“I believe they would have no problems fitting in with what we are trying to achieve here. However, until those fees are agreed we have to sit tight.

“It's a trio that I think can enhance our squad not just now, but in seasons to come and all of them have the attributes and attitudes to make them good players for this club.”

The Millers will not be the only club looking to do business before the window closes, as the transfer market starts to move into overdrive before Tuesday’s deadline.

Whilst it has been a relatively frustrating couple of weeks for Warne, he remains optimistic that he can add quality to his side, expecting most clubs to become more flexible in the final week before the deadline.

“The nature of the January window means that clubs will keep their cards close to their chests until it nears it's close,” Warne added.

“I expect there to be a lot of activity across all the divisions as we approach the deadline.

“Unfortunately, like many other clubs we have a game on the Tuesday that the window closes, but I'd like to think that any business we are looking to do would have reached it's conclusion by dinner time.

“We've let a lot of players leave the club that we didn't forsee playing a big part for us before the end of the season, so we are low on numbers. That said, I like the lads that we've got here and we just need some more faces with the right attributes to add to the good core that we have.”
