Rotherham United’s youngsters slipped to a 2-1 defeat on home soil in the rearranged clash with Notts County, after the original fixture was abandoned due to a serious injury to Revarnelle James.

The Millers took the lead through in-form striker Joshua Kayode as the two sides locked horns at Roundwood, but the visitors completed an impressive comeback to record maximum points.

The Academy side were forced to reshuffle their pack due to injuries in the camp, but Garreth Barker was pleased with his side’s effort despite the final score.

“We've been on a good run but now we're paying the price for having no natural central defenders fit,” he explained.

“We've got full backs in the central positions which is not ideal but can't be helped.

“We played well and were good for 55 minutes. We took the lead and scored a good goal and went from there but we're just paying for the fact that we have a lot of injuries at the minute."
