Rotherham United Ladies slipped to a 2-0 defeat on Sunday as they hosted Radcliffe Olympic Ladies at Roundwood.

A close encounter saw the Millers enjoy the lion’s share of possession at the club’s training base as well as a number of notable chances, the best of which saw Amy Pollock denied by a fine save after a good burst forward.

The scores remained deadlocked as half time arrived but it was the visitors who capitalised on two forays forward leaving the hosts 2-0 down after the restart.

Manager James was delighted to field four players from the Under 18’s team in the clash at the weekend, whilst thanking those that turned out to support their side on Mother’s Day.

“It was great for us to bring four players into the team from the Under 18’s side,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“We were really happy with how we started the game but as is the case sometimes, our luck just wasn’t in and we conceded against the run of play. Although I am disappointed with the result I am extremely proud of the performance the ladies gave.

“However, there were a lot of positives to take from the game and with the youngsters coming through, we are confident that the future is bright.

“Thanks to everyone that turned out to support us with the men’s senior team without a fixture for the international break and we look forward to seeing those of you interested at our next home game on Sunday 9th April against table toppers Loughborough Foxes Women."
