As part of today's official EFL Community Day of Action, we look back on last weekend’s Community Day clash with Ipswich Town.

Clubs up and down the country will celebrate the day earmarked by the English Football League today, and will see the Millers’ Community Sports Trust involved in the Fisherman’s Friend group at Kilnhurst, all of which follows the weekend’s activities. The Millers' Community Sports Trust have been proud to bring together local people to help them interact with others spending a day out fishing whilst also meeting regularly at facilities provided for by the Trust. Today, Richard Wood joined the group for some time at Bakers Pond for one of their regular get-togethers.

As part of the club’s Community Day fixture against the Tractor Boys, there were a number of additional activities taking place in and around the ground with a debut appearance for the new ‘Football-Pool table’ as well as a football freestyler performing tricks on the forecourt at the Millers’ home.

Also on hand were trampolines and a kids play area while face painters were dotted around AESSEAL New York Stadium and representatives from local organisations including the Rotherham Hospice and the Rotherham MCVC were also in attendance.

The half-time game saw attendees from the club’s holiday soccer camps take to the hallowed turf and the day was rounded off as the Millers recorded a 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town.

Head of Community Jamie Noble expressed his pride at the hosting of the Community Day, whilst thanking the Millers and Ipswich Town fans that got involved with the activities on the day.

“It was an incredibly proud day for us at the Community Sports Trust to be able to join with supporters at Saturday’s game in celebrating everything that we do together in the local area,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“As well as our usual initiatives such as the Random Act of Kindness and the Goal Zone being open, we had a few extra activities going off that were really well-received by the fans at the game.

“It was brilliant to see everyone getting involved and it was great that we were able to cap the day with a Rotherham win.

“I’d like to thank everyone that came and spoke to us and joined in the activities on the day, but more importantly for the support of everyone in the community that we deal with throughout the course of the year."
