Rotherham United would like to thank Showsec Security for their kind donation of places in the hospitality lounge to the Rotherham Hospice at the recent games with Birmingham City and Ipswich Town.

The security providers, who have shown their support to the local charity in the past by donating a table at the Christmas Ball to staff, once again invited members of the local hospice to join their table at the Millers’ last two home fixtures.

The Good Friday clash with Blues at AESSEAL New York Stadium saw staff from the Rotherham Hospice treated to an all-expenses-paid afternoon in the lounge, before children from the Sunbeams group came along for the victory over the Tractor Boys on Saturday.

Rotherham United’s head of commercial Mark Hitchens, who met the young members of the Sunbeams group on their arrival at the Millers’ home, admitted he was delighted to see Showsec once again show their support to one of the town’s major charities.

“I was lucky enough to come across members of the Sunbeams group when they arrived in reception before the game with Ipswich and you could tell that they were genuinely excited by the afternoon ahead,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“I have always really enjoyed working alongside the people at Showsec and their kindness comes as no surprise, after they donated their table at the Chairman’s Christmas Ball to the Hospice staff.

“The Rotherham Hospice is a charity close to the hearts of many people in the area and a place we are really lucky to have, so it was great to see them in the lounge at the last two games.”

Cath Todd, who runs the Sunbeams group at the hospice which provides support to children who are bereaved or soon to be bereaved, expressed her gratitude at the opportunity to give members of the group a one-off experience at Rotherham United.

“On behalf of the Hospice, the group, and the kids that came I would like to whole-heartedly thank Showsec for the chance to come down to the game,” she explained.

“We met Adam and Tom at the game against Birmingham and both were fantastic with us and really supportive of the Hospice and the work we do.

“Having spoken with them, they suggested that we bring members of the Sunbeams group down to a game and it didn’t take long to recruit some volunteers. The kids had a fantastic afternoon and it was really good to see them with smiles on their faces throughout the day.

“Once again, I’d like to place on record my thanks to Showsec and Rotherham United for a brilliant day.”

Adam Lofthouse, who attended alongside members of the Hospice staff for the game against Birmingham City, admitted that he was delighted to give the youngsters the opportunity to taste the VIP treatment at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“Having spoken to Cath and the other staff at the game, we thought it would be brilliant to donate our table for the Ipswich match to the members of the Sunbeams group,” he explained.

“We have enjoyed working with the Hospice in the past and we are well-aware that it is a charity that is very highly thought of by the people of the town, so it was great for us to be able to give something back.

“On behalf of everyone at Showsec, I would like to thank the Rotherham Hospice for all of the work that they do and I hope that the children that attended the game had a great time and enjoyed the Rotherham win!"
