Former player Daral Pugh has joined the Rotherham United Academy staff as temporary Lead Professional Development Phase Coach.

Pugh, who represented the Millers between 1985 and 1988, will work with the club’s youngsters while Matt Hamshaw assists Paul Warne with the coaching of the first team.

He joined the Academy setup prior to their successes over Hartlepool United in both the Central League and Youth Alliance League competitions recently.

Academy manager Garreth Barker expressed his delight at taking Daral on board and explained that he has had no trouble settling in to life at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“Daral is a good guy and has been a good appointment. We're pleased with the job he's done so far and he's taken to the role seamlessly,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“He has great experience prior to coming here with spells at Leeds United for a significant period and Hull where he was head of coaching."
