Anthony Forde talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United midfielder Anthony Forde says he was delighted to be handed his chance with a place in the starting 11 in last Saturday’s trip to Burton Albion.

The winger, signed from Walsall in the summer, has been waiting patiently for a chance as a substitute in recent weeks but was handed a shirt for the clash at the Pirelli Stadium last weekend.

The 23-year-old did his chances of retaining a place in the side no harm despite the defeat to the Brewers last weekend and was pleased to be back amongst the Sky Bet Championship action.

“It was brilliant. I've been waiting for my chance for a while now so I was delighted to get it on Saturday,” Forde told www.themillers.co.uk.

“Obviously the result wasn't good but personally it was good to get back on the pitch and get back to trying to make a difference to the team, which I think I can do.

"I've been trying my best even though I've not had a lot of game time in the last few games. I've been ready for my chance and I was buzzing to get a start on Saturday.”

The Ballingarry-born winger was quick to hail the impact made by caretaker boss Paul Warne since his temporary appointment to the hotseat at AESSEAL New York Stadium and says he has provided the club with a lift.

“Warney has been brilliant. He obviously put me in straight away and told me I deserved it and he's been saying that for a few weeks,” Forde continued.

“There's a good atmosphere around the place and hopefully we can continue to keep that team spirit and the results will come.

“He's just Warney. You know what he's like. He's positive and energetic around the place and he just gives everyone a lift.”

With the challenge of a second tier clash with Queens Park Rangers on the agenda this weekend, Forde is hoping that if his side continue to show their fighting spirit they will be able to take maximum points on Saturday.

“Every game is going to be tough for us and we know that will be the case on Saturday but we just have to battle through and hopefully we'll get a win,” he added.

“I think we deserve something as well as a bit of luck and I'll just do my best."
