Rotherham United’s latest signing Jake Forster-Caskey says the influence of manager Alan Stubbs was one of the main factors behind his decision to sign for the Millers.

The former England under 21 international signed on a season long loan at AESSEAL New York Stadium, and becomes boss Stubbs’ third summer recruit.

Forster-Caskey, who enjoyed a loan spell at Milton Keynes Dons last season, joins Anthony Forde and Lewis Price in moving to the Millers, and he cited the lure of working alongside Stubbs as an important reason for his decision to move to South Yorkshire.

“The manager here was a big influence,” Forster-Caskey told Millers Player.

“I had a long chat with him, and that was a big reason why I came here. He told me he is looking to play football, to excite the fans and that definitely excited me because I like to get the ball down and play, so I am really looking forward to this challenge.”

The midfield playmaker came through the ranks with Brighton and Hove Albion, making his debut for the club in 2010.

After a loan spell at Oxford United, he became a regular in the Seagulls side during the 2013/14 season.

He played for England during the European under 21 Championships in 2015, and was a regular for the Dons during a loan stint last season.

The 22-year-old is seeking a similar opportunity at AESSEAL New York Stadium and is delighted to have finally made the move to the Millers.

“It has taken a little while to go through but now I am here I am delighted,” he added.

“I am just looking forward to training and getting going now.

“I haven’t played a minute yet (of pre-season) so I am looking forward to some game time coming up and getting sharper.”
