Rotherham United were this morning deeply saddened to hear of the passing of club employee Alan Willert.

Alan was the maintenance manager here at AESSEAL New York Stadium, and also a huge fan of the Millers.

Alan and his family have a strong connection with the club going back several years, with his wife Allyson and son Andy also on the club staff.

“Alan was a valued and well liked individual who had (for a number of years), worked as a volunteer before joining the staff full-time,” said Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas.

“He was a friendly and popular person who was always on hand when called upon. His duties would often see him lend support to the ground staff, which saw him play a part in maintaining our award winning pitch.

“Alan, who was also a big Millers supporter, will be missed greatly. Our thoughts are now with Allyson, Andy and their family, plus Alan’s many friends.”

Everyone at the club would like to pass on their condolences to Alan's family and friends at this difficult time.

Once a Miller, always a Miller.
