Rotherham United were delighted to welcome young supporter Alfie as mascot in our Random Act of Kindness for the game against Blackburn Rovers.

Alfie was selected from the crowd prior to the Sky Bet Championship against Rovers and offered the chance to lead the Millers out as mascot, while enjoying a kickabout on the hallowed turf during the pre-match warm-ups.

To make the day even better, club captain Lee Frecklington paid the young fan a visit and handed him a replica shirt signed by the 2016/17 first team squad.

With NCS Takeover Day in full flow on Saturday and the game marking the first of our ‘Kids for a Quid’ fixtures this season, Head of Community Jamie Noble took time to express his delight at the ‘united’ feel at the club at the weekend.

“It was fantastic to see Alfie’s face light up when he was told he would have the opportunity to be the mascot for the day at the weekend,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“Our Random Acts of Kindness have been a real success this season and everyone has been on board with making them possible.

“I’d like to give a special mention to Lee Frecklington for giving up his time to meet Alfie because it really did make the day that little bit more special.

“We pride ourselves on being a community club and that was strongly in evidence this weekend with the NCS Takeover Day such a big success.

“We also have hopefully introduced the next generation of supporters to the club, with our Kids for a Quid game at the weekend and I hope the young fans, new and old, that came to the game enjoyed it and will be coming back in future."
