Children and adults are being urged to ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ for their local Team over the darker winter months and make sure they wear something bright and reflective when out at night and for evening matches.

The South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership are working with Rotherham United to keep pedestrians safe, with a special joint promotion at Tuesday’s evening match with Huddersfield Town, 14th February 2017.

The Safer Roads Partnership team will be attending prior to the kick-off with their high-viz vehicles and a range of free reflective stickers, wrist-bands, light-up tags, to promote the benefits of wearing something bright and reflective at night.

They will also be raising awareness for drivers to give families and young children extra time to cross the road and be extra vigilant for pedestrians walking to the match.

You'll be able to find the brightly lit representatives outside the KCM Recycling North Stand prior to the game against Huddersfield Town, and they will be in position from 6:30pm onwards to interact with supporters.

Joanne Wehrle, Interim Safer Roads Partnership Manager said, “The winter months and darker evenings bring a new set of challenges for all road users.

"Drivers find it much more difficult to see pedestrians if they are wearing dark clothing, which puts them at greater risk when using the road.

"To increase their safety, children and adults should consider wearing something that is reflective at night. With the help of Rotherham United and our free give-aways, we hope more people will Be Bright, Be Seen for their local team.

"Remember that adults and parents are a child’s best teacher when it comes to crossing the road safely, so set a good example to younger ones”
