Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United interim manager Paul Warne has said progress has been made on the transfer front as he looks to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

Warne bolstered his midfield yesterday by recalling Richie Smallwood from his loan spell at Scunthorpe United, where he has featured 19 times in all competitions at Glanford Park.

Now he is pressing ahead in other areas, following the departures of Greg Halford, Izzy Brown, Dael Fry, Jake Forster-Caskey and Dom Ball in recent weeks.

“It’s good to have Richie back but obviously I’m still eyeing up potential targets,” Warne told www.themillers.co.uk

“Over the past 48 hours we have made some progress on a couple of fronts and hopefully, over the next couple of days, we may have some good news regarding a signing or two.

“Any possible additions coupled with the return of Richie will give me some extra options going forward.”

Smallwood has been with the Iron since August, but has returned to the AESSEAL New York Stadium today.

The transfer window re-opened for business on January 1st and will close again at 11pm on Tuesday 31st January.
