54-year-old manager Kenny Jackett takes charge of the Millers with just four managerial spells on his CV already, but has already amassed a wealth of experience and two promotions.

The Watford-born boss only represented his hometown club in a professional playing career spanning over 10 years and including over 30 caps for the Welsh national team.

After calling time on his days as a player he remained at Vicarage Road where he took his first steps into coaching and was handed his chance at working with the first team in 1996 alongside Luther Blissett, under the stewardship of Graham Taylor.

Jackett would take the managerial reins himself as Taylor stepped into a Director of Football role but would return to an assistant job with the Hornets and enjoy more success with Taylor including successive promotions to the Premier League.

After a brief stint as Ian Holloway’s number two at Queens Park Rangers and enjoyed another promotion as they went up from Division Two.

Following three years at Loftus Road, Jackett was offered the chance to take charge of Third Division side Swansea City in 2004, where it wouldn’t be long before he was celebrating again. His first season in charge ended in promotion from League Two coupled with an FAW Premier Cup win. More success in the FA Premier Cup followed the season after but was overshadowed by the Swans’ triumph in the Football League Trophy which stole the headlines.

Manchester City were Jackett’s next club where he served as reserve team manager for a short spell before Millwall came calling for his services. He resurrected the Lions to a place in the League One Play-off final where they were defeated 3-2 at the back end of the 2007/08 campaign.

The London-club once again challenged at the top end of the third tier but missed out on the automatic places and once again had to settle for a place in the Play-off shake up. Jackett would taste success this time though and Millwall’s 1-0 win over Swindon Town saw them promoted to the Championship.

Two seasons with mixed fortunes followed but the Lions defied the odds in 2012/13 when they reached the FA Cup semi-finals where they were defeated by eventual winners Wigan Athletic.

On 31st May 2013 Jackett took up his most recent challenge as the manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers. His early tenure won him two Manager of the Month awards and he led the Molineux-club to the League One title, setting a new record for points accrued in the third tier in one season. The following season Wolves found themselves competing at the top end of the division and would go on to finish 7th.

In the 2015/16 campaign Jackett guided his side to a mid-table finish before the newly appointed owners of Wolves Fosun International opted for a change in personnel, appointing Walter Zenga as his successor.
