Alan Stubbs post Barnsley...

Rotherham United manager Alan Stubbs says his side must improve after a 4-0 defeat against Barnsley.

In the Millers’ first South Yorkshire derby of the season, there was no indication of the heavy scoreline in what was a tight first half.

But the visitors conceded four second half goals to Marc Roberts, Adam Hammill, Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Kent as Barnsley dominated the final quarter of the game.

Stubbs said after the game:

“To lose 4-0 is disappointing and I’m sorry for the fans. You never want to lose any game in a derby and when you look at the first half we come in at half time well and truly in the game but the second half wasn’t good enough.

“The first one we should deal with better and the second one has taken a wicked deflection and there’s not much that you can do with that but there are certain things that when we’ve gone 2-0 down we need to do to get back into the game and we haven’t done them.

“I thought we were the better team up until the first goal and after that, we’ve had it before where we conceded two quick goals. Today we were a bit more unfortunate but we did it at Brighton and we did it at Villa and the second goal today was a deflection but when you’re luck is not in a little bit that can happen.

Attention now switches to Wednesday's transfer deadline, with Stubbs confirming that he will be looking to add to his squad, whilst he also confirmed that players would also be moving out.

“We’re going to be busy up until Wednesday looking to bring new recruits in. We have to bring better players in and we people have got to care. We need to do better than what we have done, especially today."
