Alan Stubbs talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United manager Alan Stubbs says things are progressing on the injury front with Aimen Belaid nearing a return as the 2016/17 season draws ever closer.

The Millers have been without the Tunisian defender since the final stages of the previous campaign but Stubbs says a return to action isn’t too far in the distant future.

“He’s actually not too far away,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“He’s stepped up his training and he had a little reaction on Friday but nothing that was going to keep him out.

“We’ve let it settle down and he’s done something over the last couple of days so we’ll look to progress him again.”

Meanwhile the fully fit contingent of the Millers squad were put through their paces by Scunthorpe United in Tuesday’s friendly at Glanford Park and Stubbs is pleased with the fitness levels in camp ahead of the season opener against Wolves on 6th August.

“That should be them near enough ready,” he explained.

“They’ve had six games now and they’ve had a fair share of fitness in all the games and they are where we want them to be in terms of fitness."
