PREVIEW | Millers v Bluebirds

The Millers return to action at AESSEAL New York Stadium where they are unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship as they take on Cardiff City on Saturday.

Alan Stubbs’ side face off with the Bluebirds on Saturday, who are currently bottom of the second tier, as they look to get back to winning ways after defeat at Blackburn Rovers.

Meanwhile, Paul Trollope’s side slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leeds United in their last outing and will also be keen to register points to climb away from the foot of the table.

MILLERS | Last time Rotherham United were in action they were defeated 4-2 by Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The visitors took the lead early on through Danny Ward but were pegged back by Craig Conway’s thunderous equaliser.

Marvin Emnes then opened the gap to make it 3-1 before Ward replied again late on to set up a tense finish.

However, as the Millers pressed for an equaliser Rovers struck again, this time Sam Gallagher applied the finishing touches to Emnes’ cross in front of goal to seal the points.

CARDIFF CITY | The Bluebirds suffered the same fate as the Millers on Saturday as they were beaten 2-0 by Leeds United on home turf.

Cardiff struck the woodwork on two occasions in the first half but were pegged back when Chris Wood despatched a penalty to put Leeds in front shortly after the hour-mark.

Pablo Hernandez made sure of the points late on with his strike eight minutes from time to condemn the South Wales outfit to their fifth defeat of the new season.

The most recent encounter between the teams came as recently as January this year when the two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Cardiff City Stadium.

Anthony Pilkington broke the deadlock on 25 minutes before Joe Newell rounded the ‘keeper to restore parity at 1-1.

Pilkington then turned into his own net on 49 minutes to see the Millers take the lead but made amends later in the game with his second of the afternoon for the Bluebirds to ensure both sides earned a share of the spoils.

TEAM NEWS | Full back Stephen Kelly will miss Saturday’s game with a thigh injury, while Dexter Blackstock could make his debut for the club.

Aimen Belaid and Kirk Broadfoot remain sidelined for the game at AESSEAL New York Stadium, but there is positive news in the defending department with Richard Wood in line for a return after featuring for the reserves earlier in the week.

Tom Adeyemi will be unavailable for selection due to the terms in his loan.

19/10 | The odds on a Millers win on Saturday.
40/1 | Danny Ward to score the opener in a 2-0 Rotherham United win.
4/1 | The hosts to win to nil at the weekend.
11/1 | Joe Newell to score the first goal of the game.
4/1 | The odds on Dexter Blackstock to score and Rotherham United to win.
